Launch of the Vivid Audio's Giya Cu speaker line-up and Mola Mola's Ossetra monoblock power amplifier

10 October 2025

A crowd gathered at X Audio to hear Laurence Dickie, technical director of Vivid Audio, introduce the 3rd generation Giya speaker line-up. Dickie needs no introduction and is perhaps best known as the designer behind B&W's iconic Nautilus speaker.

The "Cu" adds copper caps to the magnet systems of the upper and lower midrange drivers, as well as other refinements to the exterior and interior design. Dickie claims that this results in significant reduction in distortion. In a very welcome change, the front wire grille has disappeared altogether in favour of individual driver grilles. The binding posts are now at the rear of the cabinet, making speaker cable connections a lot easier.

The Giya G2 Cu was paired with Mola Mola's new Ossetra monoblock power amplifier. The compact units are built on the company's Trajectum class-D amplifier modules and specified to deliver 350W into 8 ohm loads.

Dickie is quite talented at playing musical instruments too.

Hurray! No more fiddling at the underside of the speaker.

Ewald Verkerk speaking on the Ossetra. Love those shoes!

A detailed write-up will follow soon.
