Sky Audio

Sky Audio has just opened their showroom at Adelphi. Proprietor Steve Sai has been operating from home for about four years, since vacating his last premises at Jalan Kilat.

It's nice to see him back with a shop front and even better, being situated in Adelphi - with a larger and more comfortable listening environment.

As enthusiastic as always, Steve gave me a quick run through some of his new products. First up was a very nice direct drive turntable from Tien Audio Studio of Taiwan. 

Multi-ply plinth with a modified Rega tonearm.From what I could see, the rear stub has been upgraded, and a custom low-slung counterweight is used.

No introduction was necessary for his next product - you can't help but not notice those massive speakers at the main listening area - DynamiKKs! Having a short listen to these beauties (I like the look of these speakers, although their unconventional looks will definitely be a matter of taste), the brand name and the exclamation mark is not for show - these speakers deliver a lethal punch, life-like dynamics and sound really impressive ! Pictured below is the Monitor 8.12 (named after the 8 inch coaxial and 12 inch driver used).

We spoke a bit about his modification for the Mac Mini, and his new power cord with a figure of eight connector - perfect for the Mac Mini and his choice of router, the Apple AirPort Extreme.

Steve also showed me an upcoming product. It's certainly very interesting and I won't spoil the surprise.
